 Gisborne, First city in the world to see the sun, amazing long white beaches, and a great place to learn to surf. Gizzie as its affectionately known is becoming one of the fastest growing places to party in New Zealand with an abundance of young people arriving during Christmas and the popular food and wine festival in October.
There are loads of things to do in this small coastal city, known as the Chardonnay capital of NZ, it has some amazing local wineries to visit and sample the wares and get you in the mood for the long night ahead.
Stag and hen parties are popular due to the close proximity of the local pubs and clubs, and dining out in the numerous restaurants also puts you close to the action.
If you fancy a bit of the outdoors before the fun starts, Gisborne has loads of scenic walks, beaches to lie about on or country pubs to pub crawl back into the city ready for the night ahead.
Lots of Motels are available close to the party action if you need to sleep, however staying up until the sunrise is the thing to do in Gisborne, on the beach with that last can of beer.
