Caving is done both in the North and South Island, the most well known caving site in the North is the Waitomo caves and in the South along the West Coast. Caves can be explored a number of ways, you can easily float through or take on some of the more challenging caves where you need to abseil in. Operators in New Zealand are some of the best in the world so dont panic you are in safe hands, they can easily train you up in a day. The deepest cave in New Zealand is 180 metres straight down so dont slip when looking in, definitely an event to get the pulse racing. |
